I liked it

It's a good bit of voice acting, that's for sure. It kept me listening, and that's very important for a commercial. The few sound effects you used are adding something to the realisticness of the commercial. The story isn't boring at all, and although not very realistic, still not hard to think about in real life.

It's a bit too long for a commercial though. I think that in a commercial you have to convince people to buy your t-shirt in a very short time. It would be even better if you could do it in twenty seconds or less.
This is mainly I think because it took you over half a minute to explain the setting. That's great for voice acting, but not realistic for a commercial.

So as a voice acting thing it's nice, because you acted it well. But as a commercial, I don't think it would fit.

I agree its a bit long for a commercial. But not the other hand, I didn't write it. :P

I did a voice over for the Newgrounds T-Shirt Text that Tom Fulp wrote on the page to buy it. (Link is in the description.)

Thanks for the review!

Perfect

You did really well with this music. It indeed gives you the atmosphere of some sort of desert boss fight. I think that's mainly because of the instruments you used. The old drums and the 8-bit tune sound nice together.

The beat (drums) wan't too hard or anything, just right. That the drums sometimes changed its tempo was a very nice addition.

I can't find anything wrong with this music, so that's why you get a 10. It loops a bit odd though, with a small pause. But it's not irritating or distracting.

Yes, cool. Taht's a real helpful Opinion 'bout this Track, Thx Pal :3

Mysterious

I like how this starts off. The few sounds here and there and the variety of instruments start the song perfectly. During the whole song enough different things are put in so it isn't boring to listen to. Really nice, actually.

The funky feeling it has to it is what attracts me to it most, along with the upbeatness. The beat being a bit funky is good for a piece of audio like this, and it puts you in a bit of a trance. I usually like it if a song is upbeat, and this one is no exception.

It would be nice if it looped a bit better though. If you made the end of the song even quieter it would be better, I think.

Thanks Knuckstrike. :) I do love me some funk, I tend to work a little bit of it into every one of my tunes somehow. I did indeed spend a lot of time on the flow of this one, making sure to automate a bunch of different sounds & atmospheres to keep things evolving. :)

Soothing

A very awesome song. I'm wondering: did you write this yourself, or just made a remix? Because if you made it, you have a lot of talent.

This song is also perfect for the piano. I don't think any other instrument would do it any good.

I loved that after a while it starts to go a bit slower, around 2:40. It gives just the variation this needs.

I don't have a lot of experience with piano music, but sometimes I heard one or two notes that didn't fit. For example: right after 2:21 there are two notes that don't fit IMO.

Also, did you make one or two small mistakes at 2:06?

Jabicho responds:

Hi There! I'm the one who made this piece, thanks so much for your words!
Lol, at 2:06.... nope, the idea was to make that part really fast so it feels a bit apart from the whole piece.
Thanks so much for the review! I appreciate it a lot

Good

I hear a lot of dubstep lately. Mostly I don't like it, but this one had a electric twist to it so I could enjoy it. The kind of 8-bit music at the background starting at 1:04 is a nice addition. In fact, that is what I think is the most enjoyable about this piece of audio.

The start goes on a bit long though. In the first fifty seconds almost all of it sounds like the same loop. A few effects here and there would give the song a bit more power and diversity I think.

The fade out was nice though. It really fits together with the first fifteen seconds, making it a nice loop.

Overall it's not bad, but much of the same thing.

A very odd sounding song.

The title is not meant in a negative way though. The intro is very nice. Pretty quiet, which fits with a serenade. The chilly feeling continues to sound through the entire song. That's fine, and it seems from the author comments that you tried to do that.

In the middle of the review I switched to another tab to check something, and while I have earphones, I forgot I was listening to this. On one side it's something good, since it's perfect as a background tune. But it's also a bit flat. It doesn't change much IMO in the four minutes. It would be nice if there was something like a solo of one of the instruments, or at least something that stands out. It's a bit boring now.

BuggMusic responds:

I can see where you're coming from, but this wasn't meant to be some high energy, complex track. I guess I could've changed more stuff, but I feel as though I did all that was necessary. Thanks for the review.

Beautiful

This is my favorite out of the songs I have been reviewing for the review request club so far. The beat does exactly what it has to do at the start: give this fragile song some more power. The climax from 1:23 sounds really nice, and the dubstep it led to sounded good I'm not a fan of dubstep, but it sounds like a really good one of that style.

I also wanted to say that I loved the sound from 2:07 and onwards. That must be my favorite part of the song. The mix of dubstep and the original song is at its best there.

And then there was this sudden change at 2:48. It's really great how you tried to put a few styles together in a song, but there it didn't seem like it flowed together well.

After that it I didn't think that the song got any better. It was more of the same, not too different from what I've heard so far in this song.

Overall it was very nice how you made a wierd dubstep song out of a quiet one like this Midna song. You dit really well, and although dubstep is not my favorite kind of music, I still enjoyed it.

Hurts my ears at the start

But I guess that was pretty much your intention. after a while it starts to sound better though. The climax was very nice. I didn't expect to actually hear some real music after that zapping tone.

I have the feeling this music was pretty much intended to irritate. That's fine, since I kind of like that sort of music. The voice at 1:46 was a good addition, and the sound that followed fit with what she said. After 16 beats, until 2:08, I had enough of it though. I don't think it was a nice enough sound to fit two beats.

A few surprising sound effects would fit nicely in the part from 2:33 to 2:58. It was a bit boring now. It almost sounded like part of the fade out.

The fade out took a bit too long IMO. I'm not sure what part the fade out is, but certainly from 2:58 to 3:22.

Overall not too bad, and I think you succeeded with what you tried to achieve with the song. It sounded a bit boring sometimes though. This would be the perfect song for some more sound effects, like the voice.

Nice remix

I had to search for the original, since I never played Sonic Colours before, but it's remixed great. You can just hear the original between the notes.

It sounds like the average first stage of Sonic, which is fine. (At least, I think it's the first stage.)

It's upbeat and simple, which is perfect for a first stage of Sonic. It isn't too simple to be called easy though. The melody you chose to remix is a good choice.

I can hardly find anything that needs improvement, so that's why you get a 9. The only thing I found irritating is the almost constant hard drums/clapping. it starts at 0:23, and it doesn't get any less irritating until 0:56.

Really good

I don't know what game this is the opening from, but it sounds familiar. With the drums sounding kind of mysterious and the violins in sounds like some medieval game.

Anyways, it sounds really nice. It loopls really well. When I got to another tab, I didn't even notice it going back to the start again. The instruments fit well together too.

I don't find anything wrong with this music, but it seems like it lacks some sort of climax. It stays kind of silent all the time. It doesn't really need a very powerful part because it's an intro music, so for a game it's fine. But as an audio apart, it lacks a bit for me.

samulis responds:

Thanks for the review. Sadly, the game has not been released yet and the creator actually opted to use a different variation of the piece for the menu instead of this.

I'm not the best at mastering... perhaps that's why the climactic part doesn't stick out that much.
