Okay, I'll try.

First of all, school maths is way more boring than what maths should be like. It's less diverse, and overall less awesome than what maths can actually be like. You're probably used to calculating deratives, and maybe prove some stuff and calculate with integrals (I don't know how far you are). Those things, although definitely useful, are, along with other high school stuff, merely the base for an infinite amount of awesome stuff there is to do in maths. Maths is way more diverse than people think it is.
The thing I like most about maths is how it sometimes can interfere with normal logic. Take the sequence 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 - 1..... and imagine that it goes on forever. What's the sum of all the numbers? 1? 0? It's actually 0.5. Nope, not the average. You can actually mathematically prove that it's 0.5.
It also raises some cool questions like: should you be able to copyright numbers? If, for example, you'd take the game WoW and turn it into a binary number, should the creator be able to copyright that number? Or are people free to distribute that number? And what about that number +1?

Let's call the sequence 's'.
Then, what is 1 - s? That's 1 - ( 1 - 1 + 1 - 1 + 1...
Which equals 1 - 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 - 1 + 1. Hey, that looks familiar! This is s.
Now we have 1 - s = s. Take the left s to the right side and we get 1 = 2s. Thus, s=1/2
