Pretty good

I was immediately surprised by the nice preloader. Although the birds are drawn pretty simple, it's still nice to have. Way better than you usually see.

The music was a nice choice. It's nice for a guide, which I think you kind of wanted to make. I'm surprised how you found it, since it isn't a very popular song.
The music stopped when you press the replay button though. A small thing you might want to get fixed.

The graphics aren't stunning or anything, but sufficient. At least there was some movement in each of the three scenes. It wasn't enough to keep me interested though.

The ideas of the scenes are nice. They are clear, and not unoriginal. Three scenes isn't a lot though. Some more scenes would make it better.

The only thing that disappointed me a bit was the ending. It was very short, and just a grey screen with some text.

Overall there are not things that are bad about this flash, but also it's not spectacular enough to stand out from the crowd. A bit slow, but still nicely drawn.

thank you for the review. yeah, i put a lot of effort into the preloader. i'm still not sure why. i think simply because drawing the stage was more fun than drawing much of anything else. something i'll have to keep in mind for future animations. as far as the music goes, i've been a fan of catacombkid for a while now. i figured his smooth, ambient-almost electronic would be best suited. i did look around the audio portal briefly, but no one had the feel that i was looking for. and yes, i noticed the music/replay situation, but i couldn't honestly see people clicking the replay button so i didn't worry about it too much, and you being the only person to mention it makes me feel like i was right. and as far as the blank ending goes, that shouldn't be a problem in the future. i figured i would use those end frames as showcases for my other animations, but since this was my first, that wasn't really an option.

Not so good

I don't think this is a great advertisement for your game. It is very short, even for a trailer. It just feels like you hardly spent time on this.

The quality isn't too good. You'll want the movie to be of great quality if you submit it to newgrounds. Either the camera isn't good, or you compressed it a lot.

I also thought it was a bit weird that you put this in the comedy section. I don't think you wanted to be funny with this. It seems more like an action movie.

I'll give you a two for effort. The environment you chose is good, and things like the remote laying next to his bed make the movie more complete. But this isn't entertaining, not convincing to watch the final movie, or thrilling.

Movie

"Either the camera isn't good, or you compressed it a lot."

Whenever you put video into flash, even if it's not compressed the quality turns terrible. And yes, it's compressed. It's inevitable and you can't fix this problem.

I'll force you to watch the complete video. Muhahahaha, it'll be requested in the RRC. :P

I don't like it.

It started off a bit irritating, with both voices saying the same thing. Only one of you should talk then.

The story didn't hook me either. And that what this video is about. It was a bit boring. None of the jokes were funny either. I didn't laugh once.
Those are the two most important things in a clip like this, and if those two things aren't what they're supposed to be, it ruins the whole thing.

You played it well though. The suits were nice, and actually realistic. The mime part was done well, and the whole idea of parodying a regular action movie was a good idea.

It was not too bad, and the idea was nice, but overall I thought it was a bit of a failed experiment.

Fro responds:

Thanks

Not too bad

The graphics were very nice for a pictochat (Or flipstudio, I don't know.) video. It wasn't too short, which is very often with a movie like this.

It would be better if you cut the movie in a way that you could only see one or two drawings at a time. Now I often didn't know where to look, and it was very distracting.
It would probably improve the graphics too, since you have a less large area it has to record.

The music was just fine. It fitted, and wasn't distracting. It didn't add anything special though, some sound effects here and there would fit nicely, I think. You already did so with the *Njam* from Yoshi, but even more wouldn't hurt.

And please cut that last few seconds out please, just to prevent ear rape. Or at least turn the music volume down.

Way better than I expected

I can't see much that can be done better in this flash. You made perfect use of the song, and with the great graphics the superb quality of the flash stood out even more.

It was also original. Those two stories blending in with each other is something I hadn't seen before.

I was hoping for more of a connection between the two stories though. If you would've made a crazy plot twist like the boy kidnapping her, or if one of the two actually was part of the war (like a master criminal or something), it would be even more special. Don't get me wrong, it isn't like it lowers the quality of the flash, but now the connection between the two stories seems a bit too small.

The bombs commiting suicide and the globe opening the doors for the girl are things that show that you put time and effort in this flash. The music creates tension, and the great graphics completely finishes it off. Great.

Okay

I had high hopes with the intro. The animation was fluid, and the music was great. But for whole flash, I didn't like it as much. In general the graphics weren't too bad, but it got worse. Like when HamburgerClock showed a tear. It seemed that you wanted to submit it too early. Take your time the next time.

I understand that clock flashes aren't really about the graphics, so here are some other things. The story was quite good. Not too great, but good for a flash.
The voices were clear, better than other movies of these sorts. There was no confusion about anything, and the end was fitting for a flash like this.
I didn't like the humour though. But I guess that's just me.

The flash wasn't too bad in general, but if you had spent a bit more time on it, I'm sure it would've been better.

A worthy end

Before I started the story, I decided that I wanted to search for the easter eggs. The first three pages I looked for them, after that I completely forgot about it.

The story, with your style and all, takes some time to get into. But after that, it becomes a story I get sucked in and don't want to get out anymore. I didn't look away from my computer screen until I read the whole thing. The story is well thought of, and had twists in the plot that made me want to continue reading. There isn't a way a story can be better, right?

The beautiful graphics and the unique way of showcasing the flash makes me give the flash a 10 based on the story alone. I have to admit I don't really care about all the production art etc. It's a welcome addition, so absolutely not a negative point, don't get me wrong.

Please, please make a few other stories like this. I'm looking forward to it already.

Celx-Requin responds:

Hello,

I have one other completed comic on the portal called "Cooljaw: Dreaming Darkly" if you wanna check that out!

The easter eggs are found in the second chapter, the sixth chapter, and at the end of the credits.

Thanks,

Pretty funny

I don't know digimon too well, so I probably didn't get most of the references, but it's still very nice. The graphics are really good, I could clearly see what everything was.
I loved the characters too. They all had funny personalities.

The story, however, wasn't that clear. At the end it made sense, but at the start, around the part with the store robbery, it sometimes didn't make sense at all. The randomness is a large part of the humour too in this flash, so changing it wouldn't be an option, but subtitles would be nice. Especially in those parts. Maybe an extras section with character profiles and an explanation of the story?

So it's an preview/intro

For an introduction, it's pretty great. Not much authors spend so much time on an introduction video. Though for a real flash, it's a bit too short. It would be funny to see what they did to his house a bit more, because all I saw was bandit boy falling through the ceiling of the house and fly boy crashing in the kitchen, but I don't think that's what made the house crash completely.

I liked the characters, they all had their own personality and their funny things. Compliments on the voice acting too. But you could make the voice of bandit boy a bit clearer sometimes. Maybe it's because english is my second language, but I can't hear what he said right after drool boy said: ''Do you think he's mad at us 'cause what we did to his house?''
You don't need to change that though, because maybe it's just bandit boy's charm.

GristlyBear responds:

It is indeed a preview! I had been doodling them all a bit (particularly Ropey Rick) so this was really me trying to transfer these guys from paper to animation. Bandit Boy simply said "yup". If he's hard to understand, it's cuz he has a cloth covering his mouth, sorry!

Thanks for the review :P

Haha

You have a large fantasy, and you show it well. The giant space ship, the buildings made of under judgement flashes, etc. It's really thought out well. The story you tell is quite funny too, because it has some realistic aspects in it. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the slavery of clocks is actually happening.
But most importantly, you really showed the spirit of clock day: voting 5. Because that's what clock day is all about, right? Though this flash actually deserves a 5, even if it weren't clock day. Not just because of the story, because the graphics are very nice too.

CorpseGrinderClock responds:

Making the buildings out of the under-judgement things is an idea I must credit to RenegadeClock and his masterpiece "Anniversary" (which everyone should watch, it's amazing)

Thank you for the nice review!
